Google Antigravity 2.0: AI Agents That Cross Products and Transform Workflows

Four days after the I/O announcement, Google released Antigravity 2.0 for all Google Workspace Business Plus subscribers and above. Antigravity is not a product — it is an agent layer that spans all apps in the Google ecosystem.

The Antigravity Architecture

Unlike assistants like Microsoft's Copilot that operate within each application individually, Antigravity functions as an orchestrator between applications. An agent can:

  • Read an email in Gmail, extract a date, create an event in Calendar, and send a summary in Docs — all in the same request
  • Analyze a spreadsheet in Sheets, generate a chart, and insert it into Slides with correct formatting
  • Monitor Drive for new documents and notify via Gmail when specific keywords appear

The architecture uses Gemini 3.5 as the central reasoning engine, with specific action APIs for each Workspace product. Average latency for 3 to 5-step flows is 4.2 seconds.

The Competitive Advantage

Antigravity 2.0 has an advantage that competitors cannot easily replicate: native access to all user data within the Google ecosystem. While third-party agents need public APIs and granular OAuth, Antigravity operates with Workspace-level permissions — drastically reducing setup friction.

What This Means

Antigravity 2.0 is the first glimpse of what the future of AI-assisted work looks like: not a chatbot you consult, but an invisible layer that operates between your applications. The impact on administrative and operational roles will be immediate — tasks that required 2 hours of manual work across spreadsheets and emails are now resolved in seconds. The question is no longer "if" this will replace jobs, but "when" and "how" companies will retrain their teams to work on top of this new automation layer.
